A box or tub with a heat lamp, pine shavings bedding, a chick feeder and a waterer. 1/2 sq ft per chick.
Week 1: 95°F · Week 2: 90°F · Week 3: 85°F · then down 5°F weekly. Watch the chicks — huddling = cold, panting = hot.
Chick starter (18–20% protein) and clean water at all times. Dip each chick’s beak once so it learns to drink.
Move chicks outside at ~6 weeks once feathered, with a secure, predator-proof coop.
