A balanced commercial layer feed should be the base (about 90% of the diet). It has the right protein (16–18%) and calcium for strong eggshells.
Kitchen scraps (vegetables, fruit, cooked grains), insects and worms from foraging, and leafy greens are all great supplements.
Chocolate, avocado, raw/dry beans, onions, citrus in excess, and anything moldy. Salt and processed food in moderation.
Clean water at all times, and insoluble grit if they don’t free-range, so they can grind their food.
